24mm
24mm · Midjourney
photorealistic cinematic film still, contemporary American West road picture. A lone hiker in a weathered red waxed-cotton jacket and a faded tan canvas backpack walks toward camera down the yellow center line of an empty two-lane desert highway, mid-stride, head slightly down, steady. Behind them, past the far end of the road, a snow-capped mountain range rises on the horizon. Late afternoon, low hard sun from camera left raking the cracked gray asphalt and the hiker, warm amber light on the road against the cool blue shadow on the mountain faces, the snow on the peaks catching the last sun. Heat haze rising off the road, fine dust in the air. Camera at eye level standing in the middle of the road, shot on a 24mm lens at f/8, deep focus, naturalist available light, restrained contrast, Kodak Vision3 250D color, fine film grain. The image fills the entire frame edge to edge, no borders or bars. --ar 9:16 --raw --stylize 100 --v 8.2 --relax --no painting, illustration, letterbox, black bars, borders, matte, split screen, diptych, triptych, collage, grid, text

Why it works

These two prompts are the same except for one word. The first says 24mm and the second says 300mm.

The prompt says 24mm. The mountains sit low in the frame with plenty of sky above them. They look far away.

Change it to 300mm. Same prompt. Now the mountain fills the top half of the frame and the road runs flat behind the hiker.

Only one word changed. A long lens makes faraway things look bigger and closer. Use a long lens when you want the background to feel huge behind your subject.

Before you run it

Use a big number. We also tried 16mm, and it looked the same as 24mm. Small numbers barely change the shot in Midjourney. The long lens is the one that works.

Use the same settings. Both were made with --raw --stylize 100 --v 8.2.

To make it yours, keep the lens and change the rest. Swap the hiker, the road and the mountains for your own subject and background.
